continuous chromosome

Return to chapter overview

A continuous chromosome is a type of chromosome that may be used by GeneHunter to solve a problem involving continuous variables, or for a problem which uses a different set of constraints (range of values) for each variable.  Invisible to the user in the Excel interface, a continuous chromosome is represented as a string of binary alleles which may only have two values:  0 and 1.  GeneHunter automatically maps any continuous value into a binary chromosome of a fixed length.  Refer to Chromosome Precision for more details.
